A message from the Regional Coordinator
On February 1, 1962 U.S. President John F. Kennedy sent his Press Secretary, Pierre Salinger, on a mission; to buy as many Cuban cigars as possible. The next day, Salinger returned to the White House with 1,200 cigars. Later that day, the President signed Executive Order #4775 which started the Cuban Embargo, or “el bloqueo”.
Forty-nine years and one week later Starfleet International knocked a small hole in that blockade with the launching of the USS Havana. Your chapter holds a place in Fleet history and you should all be proud. What the “real world” has been struggling with for almost a half-century, Star Trek fans see beyond and embrace each other as fellow human beings. When they day comes that the embargo does end you will all be able to say, “No big deal; we did that already!”

Welcome to the U.S.S Havana. A Chapter of STARFLEET!
It is with a great plesure that I welcome you today. For those of you that don’t know the creation of this chapter has been full of obstacles, we had to challenge all of the rules and regultaions that exist today between the Cuban and the United States of America goverments.
After over 4 years of dealing with the U.S Department of Tresure we can now say we are OFICIALLY a chapter of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, INC.
Membership for us in STARFLEET is provided for FREE in order to comply with the Helm-Burton Act.
Our goal as chapter is just one: TO HAVE FUN!!! We want all of you too feel like family and make friends in the local, chapter and international level. This is what we are, a FAN Club plain and simple, there is absolutly no hidden political agenda.
You as a new member are probably wondering what am I expected to do? Have Fun!, You put into this club what you feel you want to. We just want to get together in events, activities, view a few Trek movies or episodes and drink a few boutles of Rum and cuban cigars while doing it :). This is the FIRST Official Star Trek Fan Club in Cuba so ENJOY IT!!!
Fictionally, the U.S.S Havana is a Prometheus Class Tactical Cruiser assigned to the Second Fleet (Region 2) of STARFLEET.
